Pastor Travis Leamon

Lead Pastor | Husband | Father | Coffee Lover | Lifelong Learner

Pastor Travis Leamon has dedicated his life to full-time ministry for the past 13 years—serving six years as a youth pastor and the last seven as Lead Pastor. Though his role has changed, his passion for the next generation remains strong, and he continues to be closely involved with the teens in our church.

​

A native of Wellington, Texas, Pastor Travis brings a warm, relational style to leadership and preaching. A lifelong learner, he is currently pursuing a degree in Biblical Exposition through Andersonville Theological Seminary, constantly growing in his understanding of God’s Word and how to communicate it faithfully.

​

He and his wife, Mattie, have been married for 15 years and are the proud parents of four amazing children—who keep life full of energy, laughter, and joy. Family is a central part of his life and ministry, and he loves leading a church that feels like home to families of all ages.

​

Outside of ministry, Travis enjoys quiet moments with a good cup of coffee and meaningful conversations far more than a football game. His heart is to lead people toward Jesus, build a welcoming church family, and faithfully preach the Gospel.

Deacon
Danny Murphy

​

Serving as Deacon and wife at Carey 1st are Danny and Stephanie Murphy. They are parents to daughter  Tiffany Murphy (deceased) and son Terence Murphy. Not only blessed with two wonderful children and a  daughter- in-law, Danny and Stephanie are blessed with three grandsons and one granddaughter. The Murphy family praise God that this entire family know Jesus as their  Savior. As a Deacon I am a servant committed to the Lord Jesus Christ and his church.I am willing to do what ever is needed  to advance his cause out of love and obedience to serve others and to support the Pastor. I am here to serve you!!!

Monique Wilson

Monique was raised in Childress and was saved and baptized at the age of 5 at Kirkland Baptist Church where she learned to love the Lord. Her passion is teaching children to love our Lord and Savior by helping them to learn and understand the teachings of the Bible through reading and studying scriptures. She has enjoyed teaching children from preschool age through elementary age in choir, VBS, Kidzone, and in Sunday School for many years.Monique has an Associate in Art degree from Clarendon College and graduated from West Texas A&M with a BA in General Studies and also received a Teacher Certification in Special Education. She currently loves being a homeschool teacher.She and her husband, Clay, have raised two sons and two daughters and are enjoying being grandparents to their first grandson. Besides spending time with her family, and teaching, Monique has always had a passion for music and singing.

Cadeja Reyes

Cadeja was pretty much raised in Carey 1st Baptist Church. She was well known for her smile and the way she interacted with customers while working at Walmart.  Just like “ Jesus loves the little children”  so does Cadeja and they love her. Not only does she teach preschoolers on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night she plays an important role in the Van Ministry transporting children and youth to and from church services. Cadeja is always one of the adults overseeing the safety and care for summer church camps. Because of her love for children Cadeja was drawn to her current job as a Teachers Aid at Childress Elementary School. Once again God has blessed us when he laid out his plan for Carey 1st placed  and her here.
